A pal of mine owned a fantastic Rottie named Oso. Oso was the perfect dog...smart, gentle, well mannered (important when your dog outweighs you),fierce protector, and a complete clown...lol. I met Oso before I met his owner...My young son had been badly bitten by a dog the year before, and was afraid of large dogs. We had a toy poodle and that was the perfect size for me. My son was playing out in our little backyard patch it was fenced with a small cyclone fence...I heard my son laughing and giggling I looked out the kitchen window to check up on him, and to my horror here was this big ugly brute of a dog standing against the fence (on his side) licking (tasting) my son!!! who had climbed up on (our side) the fence to check out the dog. I went out with the intent of rescue only to pull up short, and realize that my son was laughing, and smiling, so much for being afraid. Oso was responsible for a friendship between his owner and I that still lasts today. Oso became pals with both of my kids and my toy poodle Spike. Oso didn't understand his size...and there was nothing quite so funny as to see my 12lb. Toy Poodle chasing a 120lb. Rottie around my pals backyard. Funnier still was to see my dog spike climbing the fence between the yards to go play with Oso...I couldn't keep the dog home, and Oso paid more than a dozen visits to our side of the fence to come and hang out with me...eat leftovers, sleep on the couch with Spike, and play with the kids. Fantastic dog he is still missed today.
